This morning I had my Dante class from 9:30-12:00, which was kind of a long time to sit still in the classroom. However, it was rainy, foggy and cold this morning so it was not too bad. I was actually happy we were inside in the classroom rather than onsite somewhere. We actually had some really interested discussions, so it was not nearly as bad as expected! PLUS, I looked at the syllabus and realized that I only have three more cantos of Inferno left so we’re almost done with the really awful parts. Phew. After Dante, I had lunch with everyone and then had Weaving the Tale from 1:00-2:30. After class, I went to the bank, used the Internet for a little while and then headed home. At home I worked on some homework and made a packing list for London. I can’t believe we only have one more day of classes before fall break starts!
For dinner this evening we started out with spaghetti noodles with pesto, which was SO delicious and I ate more of it than I wish to share :P For our second course we had CHEESEBURGERS! Not on a bun, of course, but we had burgers with cheese melted on them and they were so yummy :) We also had salad and bread with our main course, as we often do. For dessert we had brownies, which were also delicious. We had quite an American meal tonight, didn’t we? For some reason during dinner, we started talking about Halloween and I asked if Marco and Massimo were going to dress up. They said no, because Halloween isn’t really celebrated here in Italy. I said that they should dress up anyway and come over and Franzi and I could dress up as well and give them candy and they could pretend to trick-or-treat. Anyway, it evolved into us deciding to ask Massimo, Marco, Silvia and Mattheo (their son’s family) over for a Halloween dinner. We said that everyone has to dress up and then Franzi and I will try to make something Halloween-y (or at least orange) for dessert. Andrea called them right there at the table to invite them over. However, because the two days after Halloween are holidays in Italy, they might be out of town. HOWEVER, Franzi and I will both be in town that weekend so we said that we could really celebrate it any night that weekend so hopefully we’ll be able to do it. Wouldn’t that be so much fun?! I told them that Marco should dress up like a pumpkin and I heard Andrea telling Silvia the same thing over the phone :) If anyone has good, easy costume ideas for something I could dress up as, let me know!
Tomorrow morning my Medici class is meeting in the Bargello museum, so that should be fun. I am giving an oral report on Donatello’s David and Judith so wish me luck on that! Then, after lunch, I have an Italian quiz, which shouldn’t be bad at all. Then, tomorrow at 2:30, my fall break officially starts! Then I’ll have three days here in Florence and then I am off to London. Pretty crazy! I hope all is well and have a lovely rest of your Wednesday.
Love, Kari
