October 10, 2011
Last night I was really exhausted and went to bed at 10:00 so I woke up around 7:30 without my alarm clock. I had a leisurely breakfast and took my time getting ready but still managed to get to school by 8:30. I wasn’t signed up to work until 9:00 but it’s more of a work when you can type of thing so I figured I would just start then. No one else was in the classroom where I was working so I turned on some music and sang along for the next two and a half hours :) The time flew by and I had no idea I’d been working so long. At 11:00, another class came in to take a test so I put my stuff in our other classroom and headed out to run a few errands. I went to the post office to get stamps, then to the market to get some dried fruit and then headed back to school. Once back at school, I ate my lunch with everyone else in the classroom. I had Italian until 2:30 and then my Dante class until 4:30. The day actually went by really quickly, which was nice. After class, I caught the bus home and dropped off my backpack. Daniella had just made tea for herself and Andrea and there was enough for one more cup so she offered it to me. I was actually a little chilly so it was just lovely. After I had finished my tea, I headed to the supermarket to get groceries for the week. Being a Monday evening it was really busy but that definitely makes for good people watching :P I found a little package of salted pumpkin seeds that I decided to try so we’ll see how they are! I also got some lemon tea to drink before I go to bed because everyone is sick. I am doing my best to stay healthy but it’s hard when almost everyone in our program is getting sick, including my roommate. Pray I stay healthy! When I got home from the supermarket, I worked on some homework and used the Internet for a little while. It kind of hit me this evening that fall break starts this Friday and I leave for London a week from today. I cannot believe I only have three days of class left before we are on break for a week and a half. CRAZY! I am so excited :) Anyway, it’s coming up really quickly so that will definitely make this week just fly by.
For dinner this evening, we started with a ravioli that was stuffed with potato with a tomato and basil sauce. It was like gnocchi but a little different…it was SOOO delicious! For our main dish, we had garbanzo beans with olive oil and I had a soy burger with lemon and Daniella and Franzi had chicken and we also had bread. For dessert we had clementimes, which were so sweet and delicious! They are the perfect way to end a meal. This evening we somehow got on the topic of Andrea being in the military, but not the war and then they were asking if anyone in our family had been in the military. Then Andrea started telling us stories about his dad who went to war when he was twenty and showed us a photo of him. All of a sudden, he was showing us all of the old photos of his and Daniella’s parents and he and Daniella as little kids. It was so much fun! We got to hear so many stories and see so many old photos! They said they have many more photos and will have to show us another time. I can’t wait!
My throat is starting to hurt just a little bit so I am going to try to get to bed early. I mean, I always get enough sleep but I want to get more than usual so hopefully I can nip this in the bud or not get it at all or shorten it…whatever :P So I’ll probably just post this, stretch and then head to bed already. I hope you’re having a wonderful Monday! I am definitely enjoying the fall weather we are having in Florence now, so hopefully you are all having beautiful fall weather, as well!
Buona Notte,
Kari
