This morning in Italian, we reviewed the past tense and prepositions. I feel like holding a conversation is SO much easier now. And Umberto said that, next week, we are learning the future tense so I’ll be all set to go! After class, I ate my bag lunch, then Franzi and I had Jodie help us look into train tickets to Verona next Saturday. We decided to buy them in person early next week, though because the Internet was faulty. But hopefully that won’t be a problem and we’ll get to day trip to Verona next Saturday! I’ll keep you updated on that.
Afterwards, Franzi and I headed out to do some shopping. We started by browsing through the marketplace and leather shops, which was really nice because we pass it almost every day and have not yet gotten the chance to just look around. After that we wandered over to H&M because Franzi had not been there yet. It was in the 90s again today so it was nice to get out of the sun and into the air conditioning. We spent a little while there and then went to meet Nikki for some gelato. I had chocolate and caramel gelato, which was INCREDIBLE. After that, we wandered back through the market, stopped at the cell phone store to figure out some things with Franzi’s cell phone. After that we headed back to Linguaviva to get our school stuff and then headed home.
I had very sore feet and was getting really hot and a bit dehydrated so it’s very nice to be home. Right now we’re sharing some of our favorite songs and just relaxing, which feels wonderful. A little over an hour until dinner…I’m ready! I’ll write more after dinner!
Dinner was delicious and MUCH lighter after last night, which was nice to give my stomach a little break :P We started with penne pasta with fresh tomato sauce, which I ate right up, it was so delicious! For our main course, Daniella and Franzi had lemon chicken, while Andrea and I had pears and a cheese platter with all types of wonderful cheeses. I am not sure if Andrea is vegetarian or doesn’t eat meat for health reasons…I think the latter because he has eaten it at some meals. Anyway, the cheeses were all wonderful and the pears were so crisp and fresh. For dessert we had plums fresh from the market. All very delicious and light :)
Tomorrow our whole group is off to Siena at 8:00 a.m. so we’d better get to bed early tonight. I’ll post this, send a couple of emails and off to bed for me. Tomorrow we begin in Monteriggione, then go to Siena for the majority of the day and then spend a little bit in Chiante in Greve for the wine tasting festival. It will be a full but hopefully very fun and interesting day. I’m hoping it’s not as hot as today but I’m sure it will be. We’ll see. You’ll find out tomorrow evening :)
Love to all,
Kari
P.S. One last thing-every night at dinner, Andrea says how lucky he and Daniella are to have us in their family…I am SO blessed. That’s all :)

Daniella's self portrait (yes, she painted it herself!)
