This morning in Italian we had quiz #3 and, once again, it was really easy! I didn’t even question myself on any of it, which felt really great. After Italian class, a bunch of us had lunch in the classroom as usual and just hung out. Once we had finished our lunches, Franzi and I went across the street to the train station to get our train tickets to Verona for Saturday. We purchased them and are officially going to Verona for the day this Saturday! I am very excited for that. I’ll have to do a bit of research on what exactly to do while we’re there since we’re only there for a day. We don’t want to miss out on anything. After we got our tickets, we headed to Ponte Vecchio to meet up for our Dante class information session at the Dali/Rodin exhibit on The Divine Comedy. The pictures by Dali were incredibly beautiful and disturbing. The bronze casts by Rodin were incredible as well (including The Thinker and The Kiss). We spent a lot of time talking about how the different pictures related to different parts of The Divine Comedy and the casts as well. It was so interesting. Especially now that we are going to be reading it and we can think back to these pictures.
After the exhibit, Jodie treated all of us to gelato for Anica’s birthday! There have been so many birthdays since we’ve been here! I’m definitely glad though because we always get birthday treats :) After a little celebration at Katy’s favorite gelateria, we headed back to Linguaviva, got our school stuff and headed home. The heat really got to me today so, once I got home, I drank a lot of water and took a little nap. I feel better now but I’ll be happy to get some dinner in me and then get a good night’s sleep. I’m sure ready for this heat to go away. And I’m sure jealous of all of you in Minnesota :P I hope you’re not freezing! Okay, more after dinner.
We had the fried bread with salami and cheese and homemade pizza again! I hope we continue to have it once a week! The fried bread was delicious, once again. We had magherita pizza again only with a different type of cheese, chunks of fresh tomatoes, and olives (which I ate, Mom and Dad…they don’t taste like grapes :P ). We also had salad with our main dish. For dessert, we had fresh white peaches, which were perfectly ripe, juicy and delicious. I am really exhausted this evening so I’ll probably post this and actually head to bed pretty soon. I know it’s early but I want to shake whatever it is that’s getting my system down. It’s probably just the heat and second-hand smoke but, either way, I’d better lie low for a little while. So, for now, goodnight :)
All my love,
Kari
