November 9, 2011

This morning I got to sleep in before heading into school for Dante at 10:00! However I was not feeling very well today so I went through most of the day with a pounding headache and such :( But, as of now when I am writing this, my headache is gone, which is quite a relief. After Dante class, I had lunch and then headed over to Palazzo Vecchio for my Weaving the Tale class. It was really exciting to go there because we had not yet been there with any of our classes and I was very curious what it was like on the inside after seeing it from the outside multiple times a week. The inside was absolutely stunning and I definitely hope to go back there. However our museum passes do not cover Palazzo Vecchio so I would have to pay. We’ll see how much I am drawn to go back there in a few weeks. When we were inside the great hall (which looks like a big theatre and is absolutely gorgeous) I gave my oral presentation on Queen Esther, which went very well. As I was preparing my presentation I realized that I had led a day of our Bible study for the high school leaders when I was an intern at CPC a couple summers ago so I really knew what I was talking about. My professor was very impressed :)

After class, I ran a few errands, used the Internet at school for about twenty minutes and then headed home because my headache was getting so bad. While I was at school using the Internet, my friend Nikki gave me a back massage, which actually helped a LOT so I did feel a little bit better. Once I arrived home, I dropped off my stuff and then ran to the supermarket quick to get a few granola bars to have on hand this weekend. When I got home, Massimo and Marco were over! They had been over before but both of them had been napping so I hadn’t even noticed. I studied for my Italian quiz tomorrow for a while and, once I was done, I saw that Daniela was on the phone while trying to hold Marco and keep him content at the same time…and it wasn’t going very well. So I went into the living room and played with Marco for a while and he was very smiley today and had such happy feet! Once Daniela was off the phone, she went to feed Marco a little snack so I started playing cowboys with Massimo. Basically it turned into about an hour of playing cowboys, which was so much fun but I am absolutely exhausted now :) I really missed them, though, because it’s been almost two weeks, so it was wonderful to see them and get to play with them. It’s fun that I am starting to be able to communicate better with Massimo and, while we’re playing, it doesn’t really matter anyway. They didn’t go home until about 7:30 but it was okay because my only homework for the evening was to study Italian and I had already done that. Pretty soon after they left, it was already dinnertime.

For dinner this evening we started with a type of thick pumpkin soup (I don’t actually know what all was in it) but it was absolutely delicious! I definitely want to learn how to make it because it was so good and the perfect dish for a November evening. For our main dish, Daniela and Franzi had fish while Andrea and I had a few different types of cheeses and bread, which were very yummy as well. For dessert, Daniela made cream pudding with caramel sauce (the same dessert we had on Halloween), which was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. We spend most of dinner saying the name of an actor and then everyone would say if they liked them or not…it was a lot of fun :)

Now that dinner is over, it’s time to post this blog, stretch and then maybe watch another episode of Glee. I don’t have class until 10:30 tomorrow morning so I can sleep in again! Plus our train doesn’t leave until 11:15 on Friday morning so I will get to sleep in then as well. Gosh, I am so excited for our weekend in Riva del Garda! Well, I’d better get going but I hope your week is going well and that you’re all enjoying the November weather (I hope it’s lovely there as well…it’s sunny with highs in the low 60s here!)

All my love,

Kari
