This morning I got to sleep in again and then headed to class around 9:30. We dropped off our computers and such at school and then headed to Casa Buonarroti, which was built by Michelangelo’s great nephew and is now a Michelangelo museum. It was very cool and fun to go some place we had never been. I am excited to start learning about him, as well, because he seems to have been a pretty cool guy :) After class, we headed back to school, had a quick lunch break and then we were off to Italian. We took our last quiz so now we only have the final to go, which is pretty crazy. As much as I won’t miss parts of the class, I am definitely going to miss Umberto and being together as a class! After class I talked with some friends for a while, Skyped for a little while and then headed home.
When I got home, I packed for the weekend and did a little homework. Then I got some exciting news (well I actually got the news this morning but…). Anyway, Daniela told us this morning that they had finally decided to get wifi and it was all installed and ready to go. When I got home this afternoon, she gave me the password, I tried it out and it works wonderfully. It is so nice to be able to have access to the internet in my room so I don’t have to go out into the kitchen every time I want to post a blog or research for a paper. Plus, with the internet key, the internet was very slow and sometimes didn’t work at all. Now it is very fast and I can even Skype without a problem! I look forward to being able to Skype in the privacy of my own room and on my hours, and not the school’s. Anyway, I have been catching up on Season 3 of Glee, which is definitely not necessary but very nice :)
For dinner this evening it was just Daniela and me because Franzi has already left for Amsterdam and Andrea had to work late. I had never had dinner with just one of my host parents so I was a little nervous (not really, but kind of) but it ended up being one of the best dinners I have had. It was so wonderful to have one conversation and keep it going throughout dinner. We spoke almost completely in Italian, with the exception of every now and then when I needed help with a word. It really showed me how much Italian I have learned; I was really impressed with myself! It was nice to be able to talk one-on-one with her and kind of open up as well. We both enjoyed it very much :) Oh, and the food was delicious too! We started off with penne pasta with ricotta cheese and tomatoes. We followed that by cooked zucchini and a soy burger for me (some other sort of meat for her) and ended with clementine yogurt and clementines. It was a wonderful meal with wonderful company :)
Now that dinner is over, it’s the usual routine plus finish up packing and, of course, continue watching Glee Season 3 because no, of course, I am hooked and there are not many episodes out yet. I am very excited for the weekend and the forecast looks absolutely lovely—sunny and highs of about 60! The hotel we are staying at does have wifi but I am not bringing my computer so I will post my blogs from the weekend on Sunday along with photos galore as my wonderful internet now should allow me to post photos to my heart’s desire! I hope you all have wonderful weekends as well and I look forward to “talking to you” again on Sunday!
All my love,
Kari
