This morning we woke up around 9:00 and headed down to breakfast around 9:45. Breakfast was in the hotel restaurant, which was gorgeous and overlooked the lake and mountains. Breakfast was delicious. There was fresh fruit galore (even strawberries!), croissants, jams, pastries, cereals, granola, yogurt, cheese, meat, and eggs…so filling and wonderful. They also had every kind of juice you could imagine as well as any type of hot drink you wanted (I had tea). We kind of wanted to stay there forever but we finally pulled ourselves away. We first headed next door to the tent for the half marathon so Alex could sign in and get his number. Then the other three headed out for a hike—I had planned on joining them but my foot really hurt so I decided it would be best to stay back.
First I decided to explore town so I walked along the lake as far as I could and then headed into town. I did a lot of window-shopping and it was fun because there were so many people arriving for the race tomorrow. Around 1:00, I made a trip to the supermarket, got some crackers, Brie cheese and apples and had a little picnic lunch on the rocks on the shore of the lake. It was a beautiful day (although a bit windy and brisk) so it was perfect. After that, I brought my book down to the water, read for a bit, explored some more and then headed back to the hotel to meet the others around 4:30. We then headed back down to the spa for some more relaxation. I did the same things as yesterday and was so relaxed. After our time there, we headed back up to our room and showered. While I was waiting for Nikki and Becca to shower, I headed down to the water and then happened upon a carnival as I was walking. It reminded me of a smaller version of the Fourth of July carnival at the cabin! There were so many little kids and middle schoolers :P From there I happened upon the “opening ceremonies” for the race tomorrow and listen to the band and ate free apple pastries :) When I got back and after I showered, Alex was out for a run and we weren’t heading out for another hour so the three of us girls watched a few episodes of Sex in the City in our bathrobes in bed.
We headed out for dinner a little after 7:00 and decided to go back to the same restaurant because we loved it so much and hadn’t even touched the pasta menu. It was even busier this evening so we had to wait a few minutes but we didn’t mind. We had the same waitress, which was fun and had another lovely dinner. I had gnocchi with some sort of cheese sauce that was just heavenly. After dinner we headed back to the hotel and Alex decided to turn in early. The three of us girls got all ready for bed and then, snuggled together, watched a few more episodes of Sex in the City before falling fast asleep around 11:00.
