Io capisco un po l'italiano

Summer is coming to a close and it's finally beginning to dawn on my that, ten days from now, I will be in Florence. I  had such a wonderful, busy summer that I hardly had time to think about what I was doing the following day, let alone come fall. However, now that Anything Goes has closed and my job has ended, I have been able to focus on my travels. It's not easy to squeeze all of the preparations for a three and a half month trip into two weeks, let alone add in goodbyes and last minute summer adventures. Yet my to do list is slowly shrinking, although a packing list and the actual act of packing still looms ahead of me. Oh well, I have a week, right?

For our first month in Florence, we begin by just taking our Italian language course along with various orientations and trips to other Italian cities. I will be living with a host family in Florence, which will hopefully help me catch onto Italian more quickly. After that first month, we add three more classes to the mix, along with our Italian class. The three I chose are "The Medici as Patrons of the Arts,"Weaving the Tale: Literary and Visual Art Narratives of Renaissance Florence" and "Dante's Divine Comedy and the City of Florence." As part of our classes as well as our program as a whole, we will be taking side trips and field trips around Italy. In addition to our class trips, we have a week-long fall break in October during which we can travel as we please. I am not yet sure where I will end up during that break but I have a very long list of options :)

As some of you know, I kept a very detailed blog while I was in London this past January. I am sorry to say that I will certainly not be as up to date on this one. However, I will do my best to post when I can whether it be a quick update, some photos, or a detailed novel of my adventures. I do have an address at which I may receive mail while in Florence so, if you would like to send me a letter or two, shoot me an email and I'll let you know the address. I will do my best to send you a letter or postcard back :)

That's about all for now. Hopefully I'll have something more interesting next time I post or at least some beautiful photos.

Ciao a tutti!
